Band Stand Blogging...

Black Buckled Sandals Primark (Last Year)
Necklace Next (Last Year)
Watch Michael Kors

Would you believe me if I told you my hair was curly when I left the house?! I can't believe how miserable the weather has been this past few days but the rest of the week is looking up, so fingers crossed! It would appear that I have developed a little bit of an obsession with monochrome at the moment, it particular monochrome stripes, what can I say? They go with everything! I've also been lusting after white jeans for a while and these ones from Asos are just my type, high waisted (more high rise,) stretchy and available in a range of lengths, which is great for us tall people and those of you who are petite! We're not all one size ya know?!

I've really been enjoying dabbling in a bit of fashion blogging, though it's hard transitioning from writing essays on beauty products to just a paragraph or two on my outfit.

How do you think I'm getting on?
 Should I continue?

First Impressions Review: Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick - So Marilyn

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in So Marilyn £23

I'm not one to review a product after only one use, however after trying this sachet of Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in So Marilyn, I was so impressed that I had to share it with you.

I received this cute little sachet in my Dream Box (post here) however I don't think they actually sell these, which is a shame as I think they're pretty nifty, they're perfect for trying out colours from high-end brands when you don't quite fancy forking out so much money on a colour that you aren't sure would suit you and they're perfect for keeping in your handbag.

Charlotte Tilbury does the classiest packaging, whether that be a full sized product or a sachet like this, I love this little envelope and the way the cut out lips on the front reveal the colour inside. Although the instructions, see picture 2, look really simple, my lips are pretty small so I won't lie, it did get a little messy, but I love the concept and it was easily rectified with a cotton bud or two.

This lipstick is super pigmented, long lasting and leaves a gorgeous glossy finish. Formulated with the secret ingredient, a nourishing lipstick tree extract, it provides protection from UV damage and other external factors, whilst the special blend of waxes make the lipstick glide on with ease and leaves the lips feeling smooth and moisturised all day. The formula ensures that the colour doesn't bleed, whilst the light diffusing pigments in this lipstick creates the illusion of fuller lips. It is also free from parabens and the company do not test on animals.

Although the colour looks quite light in the third picture, the second picture is a truer reflection, it is the perfect classic red, not too light or dark but the perfect in between colour. I think the colour suits my skin tone and I am so happy that I got to try it out as I would definitely purchase it.

Have you tried any of the Charlotte Tilbury Range yet?

Newstead Abbey...

Dan has been so good since I have started doing fashion posts, he's always suggesting places to go on Sundays to give me a change of scenery for my backgrounds and it also means that we make an effort to do something on our day off together, 2 birds, one stone! This week Dan decided to take me to Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire, which is the old Manor House in which Lord Byron used to live, as children we were both brought here by our families during the school holidays but had never really appreciated the beauty of this place. Previously a priory, the abbey is now publicly owned by Nottinghamshire County Council and has a museum containing Byron memorabillia. After walking around the calming gardens in the sun, me and Dan decided to walk around the museum, we decided to go around on our own instead of on a tour, which was pretty fun, until I thought we were lost, anxiety and being lost do not mix well, the building is so quiet and eerie and we were walking around for so long before we finally found the exit. As beautiful as it is, I was glad to leave! If you want to learn more about Newstead Abbey, take a look here.

Here's a few pictures from our day out...

You can walk under the waterfall...

People actually walk up these steps...

You can't have a day out and not take a selfie...

Stepping stones...

This is actually someone's house...

I've done a post on my outfit here if you missed it!

How magical does this look? It's like a secret garden...

The peacock was just casually walking around the cafe yard...

You can't beat home made carrot cake...

Have you ever been to Newstead Abbey?

Clinique Even Better Makeup...

Dan's mum buys the majority of her makeup from Clinique and always has done, but there are a few things from the brand that her skin doesn't tolerate or that she simply isn't interested in using, so whenever she gets a bonus gift, she takes out what she wants and gives me the rest! Last time she got a bonus gift, all she wanted was the lip gloss and I got the rest of the products including the tin. Among the products was this Clinique Even Better Makeup in the shade Natural, which is too pale for Dan's mum and a little too dark for me, but nothing a helping of fake tan couldn't sort.

What surprised me the most was that there are 26 shades of this foundation, which is the reason I am swaying more towards high-end at the moment when it comes to foundation. It allows you to find a better match, which isn't that easy and you can avoid those dreaded 'tango' jaw lines. With SPF 15 you know your skin has that extra protection when wearing this, though I know your supposed to put on an SPF beforehand even if your make up already has some in, so I'll be on the hunt for one of these come pay day.

This liquid foundation is suitable for all skin types, it evens out your overall skintone, leaving a flawless finish that looks almost airbrushed. To help achieve this look, I dampen my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and apply the foundation straight on to it, I then dab in on to my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin and then use a bouncing motion to blend the product in to my skin.

This foundation provides moderate coverage that is buildable, which I love in a foundation as this allows you to wear it light on summer days, or to build it up to cover any break-outs on those days when you need a little extra confidence boost and it lasts a good eight hours, so you don't have to worry about touching up at work!

Have you tried any of Cliniques foundations?

Secret Garden...

( I haven't edited any of these photos as I didn't want to detract away from the beauty of the surroundings)

Ivory Midi Skirt - was £12 now £5 - Primark
Shoes - Primark
Necklace - £3 - Primark

The only day me and Dan get off together is on a Sunday, so we try to make an effort every week to spend some quality time together on this day and this week we spent the day at Newstead Abbey in Nottingham. I won't go into detail about the place as I've already planned a post on this, but it really is a beautiful place and one to definitely check out. It was really hot yesterday so I decided to wear something light and floaty to keep me cool.

I popped into Primark on my lunch hour on Friday and spotted this ivory coloured midi skirt in the sale, I've never seen it in my store before but it was down from £12 to just £5 and I'd already fell in love with it before I'd even tried it on. It's the perfect length for me and sits perfectly on my waist, it has a light checked pattern all over it, which you can't actually see unless your really close to it, but I love how light and floaty it is, it made me feel so girly. I decided to pair this skirt with my black scalloped vest from Topshop, this is slightly cropped so it went perfectly with the skirt and didn't show any flesh, I wanted to tuck it in but it's just a tad too short and kept falling out. I put my beige peep toe shoes on from Primark, which I know worn with the outfit would make my mum say I look just like my Great Nan if she saw me, as she used to wear very similar things to me when she was young, but these are super comfy and I knew I'd be on my feet all day.

I do love how this look is quite 1930's but I am a girly girl and this outfit is the sort of thing that I feel most comfortable in.

What is your go-to outfit?

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Audacious...

When it comes to lip products, Revlon have it covered, from balms, to butters and stains in matte, suede and lacquer formulas, there isn't much that they haven't covered. When the ColorBurst Balms first came out, I went into Nottingham city centre with Dan as he had a work meeting and whilst he was in there, I went searching through as many Boots stores as I could to find them. The majority of stores were completely sold out, however I finally managed to find them and I settled on the shade Elusive, I loved this colour and at first I wore it, a lot, but with so many lip products coming out all the time, I kind of forgot about it. When I watched Tanya Burrs 'Huge Beauty Haul' Video and she featured the colour Audacious, which is the perfect orange with a hint of coral, the kind that looks perfect with a tan, I practically ran to my nearest Boots store for my next fix.

I adore products with a mouth watering scent and this one is no exception, these balms have a minty scent and taste to them, they also make your lips tingle at first, which some people might not like but personally I love. This lip balm is also super moisturising, it keeps your lips hydrated and the shape makes is so easy to apply with precision. As the name suggests, this leaves a matte finish, however with the balm being moisturising, it's the kind of matte that still allows you to rub your lips together without them sticking together, bonus. The only downside to this balm is that your lips need to be in good condition prior to application as the product itself can stick to dry patches, not a good look.

Have you tried any of the Revlon ColorBurst Balms? What are your favourite colours?

Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Set...

Zoeva have taken the blogger world by storm, especially with this Rose Golden Set, which oozes luxury and at just £55.21 including delivery for a set of eight brushes, complete with makeup bag, it's a pretty good bargain too considering you pay an average of £20 per brush at MAC.

I love the 'romantic copper' effect of the brushes, it makes them look so expensive, especially when they come in a gorgeous matching makeup bag with a protective pouch too. I had these for ten whole days before I finally plucked up the courage to start using them, they are just so pretty, I wanted to stare at them a little longer before I allowed them in to my death trap of a makeup bag. This was only a few days ago, so this is only a first impressions review and I have not yet washed them so I cannot comment on that aspect, just yet, but I just had to share their beauty with you all. I will of course review them all in a lot more detail at a later date.

So far I have been loving using these brushes, they are super soft on the skin, they pick up pigment well, and they distribute colour evenly. I have started using the majority of them over my usual makeup brushes and I can't wait till I have a day off to play around with them properly. I will definitely order from the company again and already have my eye on some of their makeup, which I hope is just as good as their brushes.

Being as though Zoeva are a German company, there were a few things I wanted to know before ordering, so I thought I would answer them for you lovely lot:

How much is shipping? 7.50 EUR = £5.99

Which delivery company do they use and can I track my parcel?
DHL Deliver your parcel and you will receive a tracking number so that you can track it every step of the way, this got me through my days at work!

How long would it take to get to me? Zoeva state 2-5 days, however I don't think this includes weekends, bank holidays etc which is standard. I ordered mine on the Friday and received it on the Wednesday, so although this is five days, it is actually only three working days, which I was pretty impressed with.

Do you have to pay any additional charges e.g customs, taxes or duties? No, you aren't charged any further fees after making an order.

Have you ordered anything from Zoeva yet? If not, have you got your eye on anything?

Review: Eucerin Dermo Purifyer Cleanser...

My skin isn't the easiest thing to maintain, with constant hormonal break-outs due to PCOS and painful cyst like spots that constantly enjoy making themselves comfortable under my skin, I often become down and lacking in confidence simply because of the way my skin looks! So when the opportunity arose to try the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleanser, I couldn't respond quick enough! Escentual kindly sent me a whole bag full of goodies and I can't wait to review the rest.

Eucerin 'is the dermatologist-recommended skincare brand based on honest skin science.' By working with dermatologists to create skincare that contains 'active ingredients' and using a 'holistic dermo-cosmetic approach' Eucerin create products that are highly effective and reliable, giving all skin types healthy and radiant looking skin.

The Dermo Purifyer is a gel type cleanser designed for gentle and effective daily cleansing of oily and blemish prone skin. It contains 6% Ampho-tensides which make the product foam up, Carnitine to reduce and regulate the production of sebum. Lactic Acid to regulate PH levels and moisture, Decandiol to fight off bacteria and Licorice Extract to soothe irritated skin. It is suitable for both men and women and is fragrance free.

So this cleanser sounded promising and at the time of receiving it, I was having a nightmare with my skin, so I was desperately hoping that it would truly deliver. I chose to stick to basics with this, no serums or any other extra products as this product doesn't strike me as being about luxury, it's more about results. My skincare routine over the past month has simply consisted of using a micellar water to remove all of my surface makeup, I then use this cleanser to cleanse my face of any impurities deep in the skin, followed with a toner to remove any excess product and then the day/night cream to moisturise the skin.

I have used this product for a whole month, as I wanted to gain a fair and honest opinion of the product and I can say that from my experience, this product removes makeup and dirt effectively whilst being very gentle on the skin. It also leaves the skin feeling squeaky clean, tight, but not in an uncomfortable way and super soft too. This cleanser has really helped to clear up my spots, give me back some confidence and I will without a doubt continue to use it.

Have you tried this product from Eucerin? Have you tried any of their other products that you would recommend?

High Waisted...

Pink Satchel £6, bracelets and necklace - all Primark
Watch - Michael Kors

This month, instead of buying a ton of beauty products that I really don't need, I just bought a few and spent the rest of my money on clothes, and bills, of course. I tried to go for items that were on trend, yet key staples that will stay in my wardrobe for years and transform more outfits than one.

Although my waist is usually bloated due to health problems, on a good day, this is the part of my body that I'm actually most happy with. Yes, it's easy to focus on the negatives, there's plenty of things that I hate about my body, but if I dwelled on them too much I'd be pretty depressed, after all every single girl out there has issues, no matter what shape or size, even Beyonce! So I've decided to start focusing on the positives in life and when it comes to fashion, this to me, means dressing to accentuate my best bits.

I fell in love with this vest when browsing through the Asos website, I love that although it's cropped, it's not too cropped, if that makes sense?! The colour is perfect and it's easy to wear. I paired it with my new Joni Jeans from Topshop, these are literally thee comfiest jeans ever, they are skin tight, but they are super stretchy too, so they hug your figure without any discomfort and I love that they suck my stomach in! Bonus!

Have you updated your wardrobe for S/S? What have you been buying?
