It didn't change my life, but it definitely changed my make up routine...

More often than not, when a product is hyped up across the blogosphere, I can't help but want to get my hands on it too, and the Benefit Fake Up Concealer was no exception. With a slogan like 'Fake it 'till you make it... Our new concealer will change your life!' who wouldn't want to try it?

The Benefit Fakeup Crease Control Hydrating Concealer, to call it by it's full name, contains an outer circles of vitamin E and apple seed extract, which aims to hydrate the skin, hide dark circles under the eyes and smooth out fine lines, whilst the concealing centre aims to, well, conceal. The product also aims not to cake, crease or settle... sounds promising, right?

I was advised by the lady at the Benefit counter to purchase this product in medium, however I wish that I'd gone with my instinct and bought it in light, as I found the medium a little orange for my skin tone to wear alone. I apply this product on top of my foundation and use it to contour and highlight underneath my eyes as well as concealing my spots. At first I wasn't sure about this concealer and it sat in my bag for a few days before I tried it again, I applied it underneath my eyes, and decided to just incorporate it into my routine and see how it went. After a few days my fiance turned to me and said 'your eyes look really bright at the moment, what have you been doing?' and that's when I realised the product was actually working, as it was the only thing I had changed within my makeup routine. Just by applying it underneath my eyes, it had started to bring out my eyes, make my eyes look brighter and much more awake, and the fact that Dan noticed, must mean it works.

I think that the product is true to what it says, and does keep skin well hydrated, especially when used to conceal spots, however I do find that I still get a few creases under my eyes but as their only a fraction of what I have had with other concealers, this doesn't particularly bother me.

I purchased this product in Boots, well Dan did :) which you too can purchase here for £18.50, I don't think that this is expensive for a Benefit product, nor for the quality of the product, however I do think that it is a tad expensive to say that it only lasted me around eight weeks, and I am currently trying to scrape out the last bits.

So to answer my question, yes I think this product is worth the hype, it is definitely worth a try and I would recommend this product to anyone. I would definitely re-purchase this product in the future, however for now, there are so many more concealers that I have yet to try, so unfortunately it isn't at the top of my list, for now.

Have you tried Benefit's Fake up Concealer? What do you think about it? Let me know in the comments box below, I'd love to hear from you.

P.s sorry about the pictures everyone, I was practicing photographing on white backgrounds and as I'm sure you all know, it's harder than it looks, but practice makes perfect...

Glossybox - July 2013

It's that time of month again - Glossybox time!

I get far too excited whenever Glossybox send me my dispatch email, providing IT arrives before the box, and even if Instagram if I've taken a peak at other's boxes via Instagram, meaning I know what is likely to be in the box, I still can't wait to tear that strip of the outside packaging.

This month 's theme is Seaside Splash and aims 'to help you transform into the ultimate beach babe'. Unfortunately this came a little too late for me, as I had my holiday in June, luckily the British weather has decided to peek out, so these products will still be put to great use.

Here's what I received....

Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist - 25ml

This lightweight texturising mist aims to help create a tousled beach wave look without the effort, whilst also boosting volume and shine.

I'm not great with texturising sprays as they make my hair quite frizzy, but the fragrance of this one reminds me of being on holiday, so I'm willing to give it a try.

Coola Organic Suncare Collection Coola Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturiser - 7ml

This multi-purpose face moisturiser contains organic acai oil, organic evening primrose oil and linseed oils, which help to deliver many properties including reducing inflammation, balancing moisture and protecting the skin from UVA/UVB rays.

This product will provide protection thirty minutes after application and it is recommended to be reapplied every two hours/after swimming and perspiration for maximum protection.

Ciate London Paint Pot in PP064 the glossip - 13.5ml - Full Size

This gorgeous summer nail varnish will ensure your the envy of all fashionistas.

As you all know, I'm just not a nail varnish girl, and I seem to get one in every glossybox I receive. This nail varnish is an on trend colour, and before I decided to invest in gel polishes, I did have a few nail polishes from this brand, therefore I can say that they are great quality products, easy to apply and have great staying power.

Anatomicals Spray misty for me facial spritz - 100ml - Full Size

This face mist is suitable for all skin types, is hydrating for your skin and is a great product to keep in your handbag for hot summer days, like the ones that we have been having during this heatwave recently. Just a quick spritz of this on your face when needed will instantly refresh you, and cool you down with lavender and peppermint extracts, ensuring that it smells amazing!

Sleek Makeup Pout Paint in 160 Pinkini and 155 Lava - 8ml - Full Size

These pout paints aim to be long lasting, full coverage and are made to mix, allowing you to create your own unique combination of colours.

I'd not heard about this product before so I was intrigued when I saw two of them in my box, I love a good lip product and it wasn't long before I was testing them out. A little does go a long way with this product, and I find that applying it with a thin lip brush helps with precision during application. I have only tried out Pikini so far, and I absolutely love it! I put this on before attending a barbecue at the weekend where I ate and drank and to my surprise it was still there afterwards. It had disappeared by the end of the night, but I would consider this product to be highly pigmented, long lasting and vibrant.

I must say that I was very happy with this month's Glossybox, and it would appear that they have been listening to their customers, as I know plenty of people weren't happy, including myself, with how varied the boxes have been recently, however this month I have only seen the odd person, via Instagram, who have a product, maybe two different than in my box, which is nowhere near as many as usual, so well done Glossybox! :)

What did you get in your box this month?

What's in my beach bag...

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22! Anywhoo...but whenever it comes to hitting the beach or pool, I literally have no idea what should go in my bag and so I fill it with unnecessary things, or rather anything and everything within reach that I 'might' need and end up with thee heaviest bag of all. So whilst on holiday in sunny Tenerife three weeks ago, I made a decision to figure out which essentials actually should be in my beach bag and I to share it with you too, just in case you too end up carrying a rather heavy beach bag containing three books everyday, seriously, how quick do I expect to read?

Here are the items that made the cut...

Kaftan - £25 - Next

Whilst on holiday I took four beach cover-ups but found myself going back to this one as it's lightweight, comfortable and goes with all bikini's. Beach cover-ups are great for popping on when you need to head to the bar for another cocktail, shading sunburn and even shading your head if you forgot your hat.

Jelly Sandals - Tesco - Last year

These Jelly shoes are perfect for the beach or poolside, as it doesn't matter if they get wet, get sand in, or both, as they wipe clean. They are also comfortable, versatile and easy to slip on when you need to run and get an ice cream.

Sunglasses - Primark - Last year

It's so important to protect your eyes from the damaging rays of the sun, and this pair are stylish, affordable and because of the price, it doesn't matter if they break, I always seem to break mine!

This is an essential in all of my bags during the heat as just a spritz of this on the face instantly cools you down, and makes you feel refreshed!

A lip balm is always important to keep your lips hydrated in the heat, as the heat will dry them out quickly. I apply an SPF lip balm first to protect my lips from the UV rays and then apply this lip balm to add a touch of colour.

Makeup Bag - £3 - H&M Sale

I like to place my liquids in a makeup bag to try and avoid any spillages ruining my bag, this one is the perfect size to fit just the essentials in.

Sun protection is essential to prevent ageing and skin damage. I like to use a seperate suncream for my face and body, because I usually use a higher factor on my face, as the skin is more delicate in this area. This Soltan Once Face Suncream is perfect as the bottle is small, and the formula is light and non - greasy which is great for the face, I don't need anymore shine. The Garnier Suncream is a spray on bottle, which I always take as it makes application a lot easier, I usually take these in SPF 30,20 and 15 and then I decide on the day which factor to put on, depending on how hot it is.

Tangle Teezers are great for brushing through wet hair as it's gentle but effective, this one has drying feet too meaning that you can pop it on the side after brushing your hair and it will be dry before you need to leave, so no wet bag, yay!

With all the chlorine and salt water taking it's toll on your hair, it can soon dry out leaving it hard to maintain. To protect my hair, I took this leave in conditioner which I sprayed on my hair as soon as I got out of the water, I then brushed it through with my Tangle Teezer to prevent knots and to keep my hair in good condition.

A roll on deodorant is much easier than a spray can to carry around in your bag as they are smaller. You also don't have to worry about the lid falling off allowing it to spray in your bag, ruining everything around it, including your bag and there's nothing worse than someone spraying deodorant and the wind blowing in right in your direction.

This little mirror from Birchbox is perfect to fit into your bag to check on any mascara smudges, spots and even spying on people, you know you do it too!

Magazine - Glamour

What can I say? I'm a magazine-aholic,  I always take a magazine along to the beach or pool because just sometimes I don't quite feel like reading full on stories, but rather prefer to read about fashion, makeup and DIY tips.

I received this as a present for my birthday from my family, I originally asked for the 1st edition kindle as I wasn't that interested in all of the other features, however I absolutely love this now and have found it to be the perfect companion for travel and holidays as you can read, listen to music and play apps all on the same device.

I always like to take a book or two on holiday as well as my kindle for when my kindle decides to run out of charge, this does tend to happen when you spend roughly six hours reading on the deckchair, so I like to have a back up. The I heart collection by Lindsey Kelk are just thee best! I'm not sure how, but I managed to read them in the wrong order and I still love them, as their easy to read, funny and feel good stories.

What do you put in your beach bag?

Confidence is key, this is me...

Here is a post that is a little different to usual. This is an issue that I am learning to deal with myself, and I’m sure there are more of you out there too; I hope that by sharing what I’ve learnt can help you too...

What is confidence?

Confidence is such a versatile word, it can be used in many situations and for many different things, but I feel that confidence to me is about having a positive attitude towards yourself and the situations that surround you.

How confidence affects you...

Having a lack of confidence is an issue that many people face on a daily basis, with so many factors influencing the balance of confidence including friends, family, finance, health and work. When one of these areas is knocked off balance, this can result in a lowering of confidence which can then have a knock-on effect in all of the other areas.

Life is full of tests, and confidence is one of those issues that is tested on a regular basis, especially with social media, and networking sites, allowing you to see everyone's exact movements, outings, outfits and shopping sprees which can make us all feel a little like we are missing out at times. What we don't see though, is what goes on behind closed doors, because let’s face it, the majority of us only really tweet, instagram and facebook the good times, but sometimes it’s not all good behind the scenes. Although you might not be on a constant 24 hour spending spree and partying every night like it would seem those on facebook are, you might have a perfectly good home life in which you can chill in the comfort of your own home; these people who’s pictures and statuses that you see might be out of the house 24/7 for a reason, as they can't face their home life. Some might do this as they simply like to work hard and play hard, if you wish you were in the same position, think about what you need to change, could you put more hours in at work? Look for a new job that offers more hours? This could enable you to afford to party and shop. Maybe you’re not out because you need to save, in this case maybe you could set aside a little money to go out once a month? And save the rest. Or maybe, like me, you simply prefer a night in, to a night out? It is ok to be different. So next time you are feeling a little jealous of someone, think about what you have, that others may not, think about what you need to do to get where you want to be and if you prefer a night it, remember that it is ok!

Confidence is learning to value yourself, like whether or not you have the confidence to say 'no' to someone, because saying 'no' is perfectly ok, saying 'no' is having the confidence to put your own wants and needs before others, and it's up to them how they take that.

Confidence is something that develops with time, and therefore it is especially hard for young girls, specifically when they attend a secondary school as there are so many girls surrounding them, who develop such different styles and personalities, and it becomes hard to realise which 'clique' you fit into, because at this point, even you don’t know where you want to fit in.

As you get older, you start to realise that you are still trying to fit in, on a more constant basis and in many different situations, such as at work where there are different people to those you met at school, with your boyfriend/girlfriend and their friends boyfriend/girlfriend, aswell as their families.

However you also start to realise as you grow up that it doesn't matter where you fit in, but that you will fit in where you are supposed to, with those that have the same interests as you and eventually you will get there, you just have to learn to be yourself.

My story:

Confidence is an issue that I have been trying to overcome since a young age, although I am not sure why I developed a lack of it, I am constantly trying to overcome it. I remember being in a trampolining class whilst in secondary school and I didn't dare jump high enough to try and do a flip, the teacher tried to encourage me to jump higher and told me to have some confidence in myself, a friend laughed and replied saying that the teacher must have been joking as I never had any confidence in myself. I think this is probably the point in which I realised that my confidence was an issue.

Confidence is also accepting compliments from others, which is something that I've always found hard, as I never felt good enough compared to everyone else, I never thought I was good at anything or pretty enough, and if someone complimented me I would always dismiss it, and say things like 'no I’m not' and 'I wish' but I've since learnt that people don't have to pay you compliments, but if they do, it's because they want to. Dismissing a compliment is like saying their opinion doesn’t count, so I've learnt to replace those phrases with the words 'thank you' instead, regardless of whether or not I agree, as everybody is entitled to their opinion, even if it’s about you.

My current confidence issue is that I have been working two jobs whilst at university and have been trying to fit in with three different groups of people whilst still figuring out whether or not those friends I still keep in touch with from school are really true friends. I have also developed IBS and anxiety meaning that I don't often tend to socialise, as I find leaving the house a big deal and some of my friends find that hard to deal with, and I think that I may have lost some along the way due to this reason.

I am learning to deal with this by discovering who I am, who currently fits in with my life, and shares the same interests as I do, who understand my health issues and love me regardless. I am trying to make more effort with those that make an effort with me, and I have found that through blogging, there are so many people who do share the same interests as me, and I would love to talk to you all more.

Blogging has been a major boost on my confidence all round, as it gives me the chance to share my opinions with others, to realise that my opinions do count, and that they can help others. It has also become a hobby to focus on and really work at, as soon as I am home from work, if I’m not blogging, I’m researching and sometimes I can spend a whole day just reading my favourite blogs and watching You tube video’s because I love to see what others do, and what they are sharing with the world.

The reason I do not have a picture of myself on any social media connected to my blog, is because I haven't yet had the confidence to put one up. It is so much easier to hide behind a computer when I write, as people can't judge me if they don't know who I am, putting a picture out there makes me more vulnerable and means I become more open to criticism. However I know that I like to be able to put a face to the writer who's blog I am reading as it makes me feel like I know them more, I'm not sure why exactly, but I do.

Therefore the first step I am going to take in my road to confidence is to believe in what I do, what I write and to show you guys who I am, so this is me facing my fears, realising that not everyone is going to like me, but that's ok, not everybody likes everyone...

I love motto's and there are a few I will always live by, I believe that 'what will be, will be,' 'everything happens for a reason' and 'when one door closes, another one opens' what can I say? I love a good cliche!

Take things one step at a time, if you have a goal to reach, set yourself ‘baby steps’ to get there and tick them off one by one at your own pace, you’ll get there when you’re ready to.

If someone pays you a compliment, accept it and say ‘thankyou,’ write these compliments down and put them in a jar or a journal to look back at whenever your confidence lowers.

Figure out who you are and what interests you, do what you enjoy and you will find others who share these interests too.

Turn negatives into positives.

Those that remove themselves from your life or that you simply lose touch with? They are not supposed to be in your life any longer and if they are, they will appear when the time is right. That really hard time you've just been through? That didn't actually break you? That was a lesson that you were supposed to learn, that lesson just made you stronger.

Although some people seem to have confidence instilled within them, for most of us, confidence grows with age.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope that it helps some of you in some way, if you want me to expand on this subject or want to share your story, leave a comment in the box below or email me @

Haul - Zara (Tenerife)

I think I may have a slight addiction when it comes to shopping...when I haven't indulged for a little while, I get a little under the weather, I fantasize about the latest products and even dream about shopping, I then wake up wishing those products were actually available! Addicted? maybe! Obsessed? Definitely!

Therefore it's no surprise that while I was in Tenerife I came across a Zara store, and they had a huge sale on  which I couldn't resist a cheeky little shop in, however I was very well behaved, and only purchased two items, probably because I had Dan by my side, but I'll still take the credit :)

TRF Brown Faux Leather Shopper Bag

This bag was such a bargain from Zara and is part of their Trafaluc collection, this is a collection aimed at younger fashionistas and therefore tends to be a little more purse friendly. This bag really is quite big and I have a love for big bags, though I'm not quite sure why, as I can never find anything in them when I need it, but still, the bigger, the better. The bag is a gorgeous faux leather texture and is a brown/tan shade, which means it can become such a versatile bag, going with many outfits and for many occasions. There are four sections to the bag, one either side of the large zipped pocket which fits snuggly in the middle, meaning their is even room for that kitchen sink that us girls always feel the need to carry around. There is also a zipped side pocket for smaller items, which is great for things like keys that you will need to find quickly.

I am definitely in love with this bag right now!

Zara Black Eau de Toilette - 30ml

Although I already had some perfume with me on the holiday, I have heard good things about Zara's perfumes, and couldn't resist buying this one. This perfume has a sweet floral smell which is perfect for summer, and is so inexpensive that I can apply liberally without feeling guilty.

This one is already in my handbag!

Bag - 9.99 EUR
Eau De Toilette - 5.95 EUR

Do you shop whilst your on holiday too? Or is it just me? Have you had any cheeky purchases recently? Let me know in the comments box below,

Snapshots from Tenerife

After a long break, I am finally back! I took a little time out, because I was poorly, again, then we spent a gorgeous two weeks on the sunny island of Tenerife, I think I needed it and when we got back, we went and did lots of family visits following our news, read on to find out what; So I think it's safe to say I have been very occupied for the last four weeks, but I am finally back and have lots of blog posts lined up from a what's in my beach bag post, yes I was still thinking about blogging on holiday, to my latest hauls, I even shopped on holiday.

During our holiday, we spent two weeks on the island of Tenerife in Playa de las Americas, we have been there a few times already, and we love it, it feels like home! We stayed in two different resorts, one each week and both were gorgeous, though I must admit, I did prefer the first resort as the bedroom and kitchen were gorgeous, although the second one had an amazing bathroom!

We went on three excursions during our stay, Mount Teide is a must as you get to see some amazing views. Loro Parque is a park/zoo based around birds, but it has so much more to see! They put on amazing shows throughout the day including a parrot show, whale show, dolphin show and sea lion show, its a really great day out! Then finally we went to Siam Park which is thee best water park I have been to! The rides are amazing, but the only downside was that I got whiplash! From a ride! I'm not sure if that is actually possible, but I couldn't move my neck for two days after the last ride I went on but I knew that I had done it and it hurt like hell but it wont stop me going back :)

So here are just a few of the snaps we took...

Apartment one

Apartment two

This bathroom was amazing!

Loro Parque

I let Dan loose with the camera at Loro Parque so there are a ton of photos. I didn't want to bore you with them all, so I just chose the ones that I liked best,

He looks like he's meditating :)

The whales perform such an amazing show!

I think you had to be there to find this one amusing, but he was so chilled out,

This is a baby chimpanzee, he was just the cutest and was only 11 months old, if I remember rightly,

These dolphins know how to jump!

Mount Teide

We took a half day trip up Mount Teide in the first week and it was truly amazing, the views are stunning,

This is one of the smaller Canary Islands called La Gomera, which you can see breaking through the clouds, because we were so high up and it was a clear day we got the chance to see it, which is apparently quite rare :)

Random pictures...

As you can see this glass is almost full to the top with Bacardi, the restaurants in Tenerife really know how to get you drunk! I'm like a fish, so I got drunk pretty quick on these!

This trip will be that one that I will always remember, it was the most amazing holiday, and what made it even more special was because...

Dan proposed! :)

I hope you enjoyed this post, it's a little different from my usual posts, but I felt I needed to explain my absence and I wanted to share my news with you :)
