Summer Haul - Part 2

So I hit the shopping centre again, this time with my other half, in search of some more holiday clothes, and I think it's safe to say that we were well and truly shopped out by the end of the day! I usually come home after a shopping trip with the other half feeling rather dissapointed, as he's not the best shopping companion, and I usually just end up picking up the basics so that we can head home, but suprisingly this time I was really happy with my purchases.

Here's what I got...

H&M Dark Blue Dress & Gold Necklace

I actually picked this dress up on a whim, as I needed some basic daytime dresses and they do this in an array of colours. I had tried the mint green version on, but it was a little see through so I opted for the navy, and it actually looks lovely. The top is quite fitting, and although it's high necked, it doesn't sit too high that you feel uncomfortable. It is also a high to low skirt, and being tall, that added length at the back makes me feel much more comfortable, meaning that i'll get a lot more wear out of it.

Dress - £7.99 - H&M

I'm into big necklaces this summer, and I thought this one would be perfect to team with dresses, cropped tops, and even my bikini's for that pool side glam look. It goes perfectly with this dress, as I think that the colours compliment each other well and it will be great to take this plain dress from day to night.

Necklace - £7.99 - H&M

H&M Natural White Knot Back Dress

If you read my last Summer Haul you will know that I have already bought this dress in a black and white print, and I love it that much that I head to head out and get another. This has a V-neck and features a knot at the back which makes draws it in a little, and helps it to gently flare. I bought these dresses with the intention of using them as cover-up's to go over my bikini's during the day, but I think they could also be dressed up for the evening; I'm thinking a tan belt, tan shoes and gold jewellery with this one.

Dress - £7.99 - H&M

Topshop Soft Cami

I've been in love with this cami from Topshop for a while now, it's so simple yet elegant and would not outdate. Whilst walking around the shopping centre, I spotted a girl with it tucked into a high waisted maxi skirt, and it looked gorgeous, so sophisticated for a summer's day. So there I found myself in Topshop purchasing it to go with my latest maxi skirt for my holidays.

Cami - £18 - Topshop

Topshop Tall Stretch Crop Top

I'm becoming a little more daring with crop tops at the moment, and this one from Topshop is perfect to go with high waisted skirts. I bought it in the tall section as I'm 5ft 9, and it gives that little bit of added length, so that it ends about an inch above your belly button rather than just below your chest. I think this is the perfect length if like me your not quite daring enough and don't want to flash too much flesh. Apologies for how creased it looks, i tried it on numerous times in between other outfits when I got home and then decided to take the picture .

Crop Top - £8 - Topshop

Topshop Black Bandeau Bikini Top and Pants

With losing weight, comes a loss in the chest area too, boo! So of course none of my bikini's from last year fit well, and in a frantic search for one, I managed to find this one in Topshop. I only usually wear bandeau bikini's as I hate tan lines, and this one has removable straps, I tried on the orange and pink version, but they made me look freakishly pale, so I opted for black, as it's simple, but will go with everything, and I think it's just as important to have that little black bikini just as much as you need that little black dress!

Bandeau Top - £13

Bikini Bottoms - £8

Both Topshop

Next Easy Gladiator Style Sandals

A girl can never have too many shoes right? And these are the perfect holiday companions, the colour will go with the majority of my outfits, and the silver strip will dress up any plain outfits for the evening. They also have a zip down the back which makes them easy to put on and take off, and also ensures that they stay tight to your feet when walking, unlike most flimsy sandals, this is great for those holiday shopping trips.

Sandals - £28 - Next

Primark Beige Cardigan

I always get ridiculously cold on the plane, probably because I dress like I'm already on holiday when were leaving England, so I like to take a chunky cardigan that I can wrap around me for those chilly moments. This Cardigan is hugely oversized! This is a small and it drowns me, so I would advise getting at least a size smaller, if not two! It is quite thick, and is a loose open cardi, which is great for putting on with most outfits and is quite long, which makes it perfect teamed with leggings for those of you who, like me, are a little self conscious and like to cover up your bum when your wearing leggings.

Cardigan - £14 - Primark

Primark White Velcro Towel Dress with Flower Trim

I don't know about you, but I like to get ready in a towel; doing your hair and makeup in your evening outfit equals disaster, mascara is meant for your lashes not your new dress, and this towel means having 'butter fingers' won't matter all that much. We are also going on holiday with my O/H's brother and his girlfriend, so this is perfect to ensure that I can avoid the embarrassment of my towel dropping in front of them, you can never be too careful. The towel has velcro across the top of the dress, ensuring that it stays closed, wahoo, and has adjustable straps, which is great for us tall girls as we can make it that fraction longer! The towel also has pockets, which are perfect for makeup items and hair pins whilst getting ready, and features a gorgeous flower print trim around the edges.

Towel - £6 - Primark

Primark White Flower Sandals

I always go for 'safe' sandals in colours and styles that will go with everything, and although these are nothing out of the ordinary, I really liked the design of these sandals. These will look gorgeous with a bikini, a dress, shorts, ok they will still go with everything, but I fancied a change, and these were too cute not to buy. The Flowers have a pearl middle and silver gems around the outside, which look gorgeous. With them being from Primark, I had to check if any of the others had missing gems/pearls yet, as this usually gives an indication as to how long they'll last, if they're off in the shop, they aren't going to last long at home, but to my surprise I couldn't find any, and they were too cute not to buy.

Sandals - £6 - Primark

I also bought Benefit's fake Up Concealer but I'm leaving that review for another post, watch this space!

Have you been shopping lately? What did you buy?

L'oreal 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

I have to say I think that I have well and truly fallen in love with this product, it's so simple, easy and effective.

With everybody raving about this product for months, I picked this up in my local Asda supermarket, I wasn't sure if it would be worth the usual £5 price tag, but at £3, it seemed worth a try.

Although I wouldn't advise using this product alone on a regular basis to remove your makeup, as it is not quite cleansing enough for the skin; I do like to use it as a pre-cleanse, as it removes makeup with no effort required. If I am feeling poorly or way too tired, I will use it alone to remove my makeup before bed, naughty I know, but I feel that it's far better to use this to remove your makeup than not removing your makeup at all, I just make sure that it doesn't happen regularly.

The product is advertised as a '3 in 1' product as it 'dissolves make-up', 'unclogs pores' 'removes impurities' and 'tones and soothes skin'. Multi-purpose products like this can be handy for those summer months, when you decide to go on trips such as glamping, festivals and weekend breaks, where you have to pack light, and this can become a temporary solution to your usual skin care routine, again, just make sure it's a one-off.'

This is also suitable for use on the 'face, eyes and lips' and is 'suitable for sensitive skin'. I hate nothing more than when you use a face product, such as a cleanser and discover, with much pain and plenty of unrepeatable words, that the product can not be used on your eyes. What's the point in removing your makeup and not being able to remove your eye makeup? I will never understand! So I love the fact that this product is so gentle that it can be used on the eyes, with no stinging to be felt. I apply this product to two large cotton wool pads, and apply one to each eye, hold for a few seconds and then wipe, repeat this as necessary and all traces of eye makeup are gone, so easy! I then apply the product over two more cotton wool pads and sweep over my face and neck to gently remove the rest of my makeup.

This 200ml bottle can be purchased
for £4.99 or 2 for £6 at Superdrug right now, click here to purchase.

Have you tried this product? Or another version of the Micellar Solution? What do you think?

Selfridges Summer Beauty Box

Selfridges have recently brought out their Online Exclusive Summer Beauty Box, and unfortunately they have already sold out! I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of these boxes last week week, which was, as always, another band wagon I had to jump on, I do love a good old bandwagon, me! But this is a bandwagon that I was glad I jumped on, as the box is pretty amazing!

This box contains nine beauty must haves for this summer, and are especially handy for if your going on holiday, as they are thee perfect sizes to fit it your handbag for those much needed moments! The Lancaster Aftersun Tan Maximiser will help to enhance your tan whilst the new Tangleteezer Splash will help you to detangle hair pain-free!

The box is also incredibly good value for money and cost £25 plus £4.95 p&p and the contents are worth a whopping £70, hence why I jumped on that bandwagon!

Here's what you get...

Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer

Tangle Teezers were designed to detangle hair effortlessly and painlessly , this one in particular is designed to detangle wet hair, be it in the pool, shower or bath. This design is different to the original brush as it  features 'drying feet' which allow the brush to be left upright on a surface to allow quick drainage, and of course quick drying. It also features an 'oval body' for 'ease of use in water' and it's 'convex teeth' allow for easier and painless detangling of wet hair. I already own the original Tangle Teezer and I honestly could not live without it! My hair is so thick, and damaged, from the bleach, so it can become an absolute nightmare when wet! I no longer try to brush it when wet with any other brush than the Tangle Teezer, as there is no need when this brush requires little effort, and pain free usage. The original brush is a little more lightweight, and easier to transport, so I leave my original Tangle Teezer in my bag, and this one in the shower, and of course I was so happy to see this product in the beauty box, and cannot wait to take it on holiday with me!

£13 - Selfridges

Erborian BB Creme in Dore - 15ml

The Erborian BB Creme is a 'cult product' which is designed to leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized like 'baby skin', it also adapts to your skin tone for a 'natural effect' whilst offering sun protection with an SPF 25. Erborian are the first skincare brand in Europe to use Korean medicinal herbs in their products and have put together a mixture of ingredients which include herbs that detoxify and energize, helping to stimulate micro-circulation, resulting in a product that is considered to have anti-ageing and anti-fatigue properties. This is available in light and dore, which is a 'medium tan shade that will adapt to most skin tones' . This 15ml bottle is the perfect size to fit it your handbag for any needed touch ups. I have really enjoyed using this product, as it is lightweight and provides good coverage when used as a base, it does look a little orange upon application, but give it a little time and it will adapt to your skin tone.

£13 - 15ml - Selfridges

Caudalie Beauty Elixir - 30ml

This is a product that I have been lusting after for a while, and was one of the reasons I swayed towards buying the box. This beauty elixir by french skincare brand Caudalie can be spritzed onto the face before moisturiser and topped up throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated, tighten pores and give a radiant glow. You can even share the cost with your boyfriend/partner/significant other, delete as appropriate, as Caudalie suggest that this product is perfect for 'men after shaving'. The scent is just amazing, with notes of 'grape, orange blossom, rose, organic balm mint and rosemary' I feel like I've just stepped out of a spa treatment after spritzing this on my face. It leaves your skin feeling so refreshed and hydrated, perfect for the poolside, and this little bottle would fit perfectly in your beach bag. If that isn't enough it is also 100% natural, free from parabens and phynoxyethanol and Caudalie are against animal testing, whats not to love?

£32 - 100ml - Selfridges
£11 - 30ml - Caudalie

Molton Brown London Blissful Templetree Moisture Bath and Shower Gel - 100ml

This bath and shower gel contains 'templetree frangipani flower and ocean algae' extracts which help to calm the skin whilst preventing moisture loss and leaving the skin with a luxurious scent. The scent derives from the jasmine and patchouli perfume oils, and as amazing as this smells, I feel that the scent is a little too strong for myself and would maybe suit an older person, but I have yet to try the product.

£18 - 300ml - Selfridges

Jane Tran Bobby Pin and Clip Set

This set of  summer style hair clips and pins will come in handy on the beach for any flyaway hairs, the set contains two pins and three clips and are designed by Jane Tran.

This exact set is not on the selfridges website, however there are many more set to chose from at Selfridges online site.

Lancaster After Sun Tan Maximiser Soothing Moisturiser - 50ml

This lightweight after sun can be applied to both the face and body and is suitable for all skin types. If applied 'for at least 4 days' the 'exclusive technology helps intensify melanin productions' and will therefore help to increase your tan. The product is highly moisturising and will leave you with soft supple skin.

£22 - 125ml - Selfridges

Models Own Iced Neon Nail Polish in Bubblegum

This neon nail polish by Models own is perfect for summer, and come in special frosted bottles, which are designed to be kept in the fridge to ensure the colour doesn't fade. I would advise using a base coat prior to application to avoid discolouration of nails, and to ensure the product applies well, along with a top coat after application to protect the nails and prevent chipping.

£5 - Boots

St.Tropez Instant Glow Face Lotion - 50ml

The St.Tropez instant glow face lotion is great to apply to the face if you suddenly realize it's looking a little on the pale side the night you decide to go out, as it can be easily applied like moisturiser and will wash off with soap and water at the end of the night, leaving no streaks or marks behind. This little bottle is handy to take on holiday, which I'm saving mine for, if like me your body tans, but your face stays the same, this can be applied before a night out to avoid looking mismatched like, well, me! Simply apply from neck to hairline, avoiding eyebrows to achieve an all over glow. And if that isn't enough, it will also leave your skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated.

£10.50 - 50ml - Selfridges

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray - 50ml

This is one of those products that everybody talks about, and of course, I have been lusting after it for so long. However me and salt sprays just do not get on, my hairs thick, frizzy, and they usually just enhance the problem, so I couldn't justify spending the money on this product in case I didn't like it, and therefore I got a tad excited when I saw it was part of this beauty box. This surf spray can be sprayed on dry or damp hair and styled, diffused or left to dry, to achieve that 'windswept', 'tousled' beach style you seem to achieve immediately after stepping out of the sea. The spray is designed to add thickness to the hair, whilst the sea kelp helps to add shine and keep the hair manageable. I have tried this spray out once, but I'm still making my mind up about it. Although it does create a gorgeous wave when you scrunch the hair, it left my hair feeling rather lank, greasy and frizzy, which really dissappointed me, however I think that may be down to me spraying a tad too much and leaving out the frizz cream, as mine is naturally frizzy anway. I think it would be more suited to someone with fine, medium/short length hair, who already has layers to enhance the curls, but I'm not giving up hope yet!

£18 - 50ml - Selfridges

Overall I think this box is well worth the money, as although it says that it is worth £70, I added up a total  of £93.30, not sure why, but it makes me feel like I gained more of a bargain, either way this is a massive saving and it gives you the chance to try out some 'cult' products, that are currently on trend, which are all perfect to take on your summer holiday or to try out at home.

As I said above, unfortunately this box is currently out of stock, sorry guys!

Did you manage to get hold of one? what did you think? let me know in the comments box below,

My Current Skincare Routine

It's taken a long time and a lot of research to find the right products to suit my skin, and although I'm always excited and willing to try new products, my current skincare routine seems to be working to my advanatage.

My skin is very much combination. I have the usual oily T-zone, with dry patches around the sides of my nose and around my mouth. I have spots on my chin, due to hormones and on my cheeks, due to poor digestion and to top it off, I have a patch on the top of my nose in which no foundation ever seems to stick to, strange right?! So I think it's fair to say that my skin is quite complicated to deal with at times, and any new products are always welcomed with open arms to try and tackle these problems. Hence my love of beauty boxes like Glossybox, and my addiction to magazines, especially the ones with freebies, as they give me the chance to try out new products that could help these problems, when I may not have even known they existed.

These six products help to combat my spots, dehydrated skin and oily t-zone when combined together.

Step 1. RMK Cleansing Balm - 25g

The RMK cleansing balm is a product that I received in my March Birchbox, I fell in love with the product instantly and have really enjoyed using it since. This product removes makeup thoroughly and with no elbow grease required. I take a small amount into the palm of my hand, and then gently massage it into my face and neck, taking a warm wet flannel to rinse the face and remove all makeup. I then go in with a second application to ensure the skin is fully cleansed. I love this product for many reasons, it has an amazing silky smooth texture, it leaves skin feeling baby soft and especially because you can use it on the eyes too, at least I do, it doesn't sting, but prepare for blurry eyes if you don't rinse well.

Full size - 50g can be purchased for £29 at Selfridges

Step 2. Garnier Pure Active Fruit Energy Daily Energizing Gel Scrub - 150ml

This 'dermatologically tested' product is for 'combination/ oily skin prone to imperfections (excess oil, visible pores, dull complexion)' and is designed to deeply cleanse blocked pores. It smells amazing as it 'is enriched with extracts of grapefruit, pomegranate and a derivative of vitamin C.' It also contains salicylic acid which helps to clear blemishes and help keep them at bay, reducing imperfections. This is a very gentle exfoliating scrub, with tiny beads, which I was trying to capture in the last picture, and therefore can be used on a daily basis. After cleansing, i place a small amount, roughly 5 pence sized, into the palm of my hands, emulsify with a little water and gently exfoliate into the face, focusing on my chin, cheeks, nose and forehead, trying to avoid delicate areas such as eyes and lips. I then rinse it off with a warm wet flannel.

This can be purchased for £4.99 at Boots

Step 3. Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Rose Face Mask- 50ml

I received this product free in the May issue of Red Magazine and it didn't take long before it became part of my routine. It is a 50ml sample which I feel is a very generous size to include in a magazine. I have used it at least twice per week for the last seven weeks, and I still have a good amount left, possibly another 3 weeks worth. This product is 'a deeply hydrating mask to restore vital moisture to dry skin' and really helps to reduce the dry patches around my nose especially. It contains aloe vera, which will reduce any inflammation or redness from spots, rose water, which gives its amazing scent, and sodium hyaluronate which helps to achieve smoother more even skin. The product is a clear and very thin liquid, and is suitable for all skin types. I apply this product twice a week after cleansing and exfoliating, I apply a thick layer all over my face, avoiding my eyes and lips, and allow to dry whilst I bathe or read a book, I then rinse it off with a warm wet flannel, and it leaves my skin feeling gorgeously soft and smooth.

Full size - 100ml can be purchased for £36 at Feelunique

Step 4. T-Zone Rapid Action Spot Zapping Stick - 10ml

I often find myself reaching for this roller ball spot stick whenever a spot starts developing, and it helps to keep the spot from become aggravated. I found this in my local home bargains store for £1.50 and thought it was worth a try. It contains manuka honey and tea tree, which are both anti-inflammatory and will therefore help to reduce inflammation and redness, it is designed to offer a fast action spot treatment to target problem areas and to help combat spots and blackheads.
After steps 1-3 I apply this treatment to clean fingers, and then gently dab onto any problem areas, as I feel this is more hygenic than applying the rollerball straight to the spots.

This can be purchased for £1.50 at Homebargains however at the time of publishing this post they were currently out of stock online, but you could always give it a check to see if they're back in stock.
Alternately you can purchase them in store.

Step 5. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo- 40ml

I apply this product after steps 1-4, and apply like a moisturiser all over the face, avoiding eyes, as it really does sting, yes I learned the hard way and lips. Once this is dry I then apply another layer directly to problem areas, to ensure these are targeted specifically. This product contains Linoleic Acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties and helps to reduce spots. It is a very thin, non-sticky off white liquid, which when applied leaves a tingling sensation as it works. Although this can be used as a moisturiser or makeup base, I do not feel that it is hydrating enough for my skin alone and therefore I follow with an additional moisturiser to ensure maximum hydration.
See my full review on this product here.

This can be purchased for £13 at Boots

Step 6. Spa Find Renewed Radiance Energizing Day Cream - 75ml

I have really enjoyed using this moisturiser as it is gentle, hydrating and helps to visibly reduce my smile lines, with the added benefit of a built in SPF 15. The product is a smooth and creamy consistency , and only a small amount is neededI apply a generous amount of this moisturiser to my face and neck after steps 1-5, and leave to soak in before I apply my makeup. This product promises to be free from parabens, animal products, GMO's and the company are against all animal testing.
See my full review on this product here.

This can be purchased from your local stockist - search here
