La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

La Roche-Posay are one of the latest French skincare companies that are circling the beauty blogging community right now. I would even say, if i dare, that they are close to taking over Bioderma, if not already there, in the popularity stakes. What with a large range of skincare products specifically targeted at sensitive skin, their own micellar solution and the added benefit of being easily accessible in most Boots stores, it's pretty hard not to stray .

La Roche-Posay who are owned by Loreal, have very swiftly entered the skincare market as of late. They are 'recommended by over 25,000 dermatologists,' specialize in sensitive skin and their products are formulated with their own thermal spring water, to name just a few positives. As well as their expanding skincare range, they also sell sun protection, makeup and hair products.

The Effaclar Duo in particular has become increasingly popular of late, I specifically became drawn to this product after seeing it in many of Tanya Burr's videos, you can check out her blog hereand I soon began to notice it appearing in many other beauty bloggers video's and blog post's too.

What drew me to this product the most, was that people were suggesting that this product was helping with troublesome spots. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and am constantly trying out different treatments, this means that my hormones are pretty out of hand, which of course also means spots, and plenty of them, so any possible help and I'm there.

I had considered this product for a while but decided to try and stick to the products I was using, and eating better to help me. Then around two weeks ago, I caved, I know, of course I did, I have no will power, absolutely zilch, but this was one of those good caves, does that even exist? I shouldn't have spent the money, I am supposed to be saving up, but I'm so glad I did, because it really is amazing.

After two weeks of using this product, with the odd day missed, I can honestly say that this product has truly helped to clear my skin, I wish I'd have taken pictures, note taken. The redness in my skin is already visibly reduced, I have a lot less spots and the spots that are still present, stubborn gits, are a lot less aggravated and painful. I did notice that on the few days that I forgot to apply this product, my spots quickly started to suffer, and a few new ones appeared, so i guess I'll be spending a lot more money on this product, to help keep them at bay.

If you want to know how I choose to use this product on my skin, keep your eyes out for my next blog post on my current skincare routine.

Have you tried this product or any other products by La Roche-Posay?
Or have you found any other spot saviors? Please let me know in the comments box below,

Being within the beauty industry, as most of you may know, I do carry out nail treatments, and therefore I am  possibly biased toward gel polish over ordinary polish! Don't get me wrong I love an Essie polish as much as the next girl, but I find it much easier and more convenient to apply a gel polish such as Gelish which I know will last me for the next 2-3 weeks, rather than chipping the day after application.

Gelish is a product that is trade-only and therefore can only be purchased by someone with a qualifying trade card at a store such as Salon Services. But I have come to notice that quite a few beauty bloggers, or those interested in beauty blogs, are infact from within the hair and beauty industry, and those of you who aren't may be interested in the services, so hopefully this blog post may be of some interest to you.

Being a professional nail technician, I am always looking for new products to better my business, I was previously using Icon Gel Polish, which was from a local trade store, however after using this for over 6 months, and 16 bottles later, I finally tired of the lids crumbling in my hand during application, this did not look good in front of clients, so last week I finally gave up on the bottles, and headed to my local trade store in search of a more reliable brand.

Gelish has been around for a few years now, and is becoming increasingly popular, they are readily available within trade stores, and online, and even have a Youtube channel with tutorials to follow. So after a lengthy discussion with the in store assistant, and many considerations later, I decided that Gelish would be the best product for my business.

To start me off, I purchased the Gelish Mini Basix Kit, which contains the mini versions of the basics that you need to start your gelish applications. This includes:

1 x 9ml PH Bond,
1 x 9ml Foundation base,
1 x 9ml Top it off,
1 x 9ml Nourish cuticle oil,
1 x 60ml Gel cleanser,
1 x 60ml Soak off remover,
2 x Mini cuticle sticks
1 x Buffer
20 x Prep tabs

I also purchased three 15ml bottles of Gelish soak off gel polish, 120ml of Gel Cleanser and received a free 15ml bottle of Top it off. This should keep me going until I have the money to purchase more colours, as they're pretty pricey, but are definitely worth it.

Here are the three colours that I purchased ...

Tiger Blossom...

Glamour Queen...

I chose these three colours, as I felt that they would suit most people for the summer, everybody loves a nude nail, a bright nail and a pink nail, right?!

And of course I couldn't wait to get them on my nail wheel...

And create some designs...

After using them on client's this week, I would definitely recommend the product to nail technicians, they apply like a dream, are reliable and have a wide range of colours and effects. To those of you who aren't nail technicians, but have a manicure at a salon, find your nearest Gelish Salon, it really won't dissapoint!

Have you tried Gelish?

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

Hiya lovelies!

So this time last year, I could not have cared less about lipsticks, I wore lip balms, lip stains and lip glosses, but growing up seeing my grandma wearing lipstick, I had always stayed clear of these, as I somehow associated them with older ladies! How wrong was I?!

Since entering the world of beauty blogging, I think that I have collected more lipsticks than any other product, with the majority being shades of pink, and I only have this conversation too often...

It usually goes a little something like this...

Me: ' Oh everybody has been raving about this new lipstick, I think I'll have this shade!'
The other Half: 'But that looks just like the one you bought last week! You don't need it! Save your money!'
Me:'Yes but this one is by (insert brand), not (insert other brand), so they are completely different! And I so need it!'

The thing is, he is probably right, they are all just different versions and shades of the same product, but a girl can never have too many lipsticks, right?!

And of course the perfect lip is never complete without the perfect scrub to prep the area beforehand. Nobody wants to see lipstick over dry, flaky lips, but unfortunately that has been me for the past few months. So after seeing great reviews on the oh-so-popular lip scrubs from Lush Cosmetics, and the irritability from my poorly conditioned lips, I headed out to Lush to try one out for myself!

And I could not be happier that I did!

This product is available in 3 flavours, Popcorn, Mint Julips and Bubblegum, and can be purchased here for £5.25 at the Lush Cosmetics Website. They can also be purchased instore, though be warned, it's tough to come out with just one product. I went for the Popcorn lip scrub, as Mint Julips didn't particularly interest me, and I figured that I would overuse the Bubblegum flavour.

This product tastes amazing, not too sweet, for me anyway, but perfect for licking the excess off, don't worry, your supposed to do this. After my usual morning routine, cleansing, exfoliating, etc, I apply my Popcorn lip scrub, exfoliate the area until soft, and then use a warm flannel to rub off the excess, I find that a warm flannel helps to soften the lips further, I then place a generous amount of lip balm to my lips and allow to sink in whilst I apply the rest of my makeup, leaving a perfectly soft base for when I'm ready to apply my lipstick. If I feel that my lips are still a little dry in the evening, I'll reach for a little more of this lip scrub, but this time I will lick the excess off, well that's what your supposed to do, right?!

At first, I did not see any results, although my lips were in pretty poor condition, but after much persistence and daily application, I have seen great results from this lip scrub. My lips are so much smoother, my lipstick applies much better and there is no flaking or drying to be seen. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who also has problems with dry, flaky lips, or is looking for a lip scrub in general.

One of the things that I love most about Lush products, is that they each have an individual sticker (see last image) stating exactly who your product was made by, when they made it and when the product needs to be  used by, I think this is such a cute touch!

They are also preservative free, limited edition and are suitable for vegans! What's not to like?!

Have you tried any of the Lush Lip Scrubs? Or have you found any other lip scrubs that work well?

Summer Haul

Hiya Girlies!

With the weather being so dull at the moment, it doesn't feel like summer is on it's way any time soon, and so instead of buying pretty floral dresses we are still buying a ton of cardi's. However I am off to Tenerife in June and with June creeping up so fast, where has this year gone already? This called for a little spending on more summer related items. I haven't wrote a fashion post yet, but I wanted to share with you some of the things that I picked up along the way, so I thought, why not?...

Topshop White Lace Crop Cami and Gold Necklace

As soon as I saw this top in Topshop, I knew I had to buy it! Although I am a little self-conscious and this is the first crop top I have bought, I just couldn't resist .This gorgeous white top with lace detailing is perfect to take on holiday, and will go with everything, I plan to wear it with high waisted leggings, shorts and skirts for day and night, it's just so versatile. This heart shaped locket necklace was of course paired with the top and so I just couldn't resist it, as they look absolutely perfect together. The detailing on it is gorgeous, with flowers and hearts, it does also open as any other locket would and this has already become a new favourite addition to my wardrobe.

Lace Crop Cami - £18 - Topshop - Purchase here
Locket Necklace - Tophop - £5

H&M Print Dress

I love the cream and black print of this dress, as it's not something I would usually go for, it does look more like a top in the picture, however I'm 5ft 9 and it comes a little above my knees, so anyone smaller than me should have no problem. I bought this dress with the intention of using it as a beach cover up, but it would also look great belted at the waist for day, and with jewellery and wedges for night.

Dress - £7.99 - H&M

And now for the good old Primark items...

Primark Beach Cover-up

I don't like walking to the beach or pool in just my bikini, so I like to throw on little cover-ups such as this black dress from primark, it's a black see-through leightweight mesh type material with drawstrings to accentuate the waist. I'm think this is also available in white, and knowing primark it will be in plenty of other colours too, but as suncream sometimes stains white items, I stained my white shorts last year, I thought that black would probably be the best colour for me.

Dress- £7 - Primark

Primark Cream Handbag

I have had my eye on a very similar bag in next, which I think was around £50, so when I saw this beauty in primark for a fraction of the price, it was straight in my basket! Well that was after I looked through a ton of them, as it's cream, which meant that I had to find one that wasn't scratched, luckily I managed to find one. I plan to use this for my luggage bag as it is quite spacious, and is rather tall, which is perfect for all my magazines, I'm a magazine-aholic. This has black edge piping, gold detailing at the base of the handles and has a small zip pocket in the back of the bag, it also has a press stud fastening but the only downside is that it doesn't have a zip at the top of the bag, however I do usually put that much in my luggage bag that I can never zip it anyway.

Bag - £12 - Primark

Primark Midi dress

Being so tall, maxi dresses and regular dresses are always too short, unless i miraculously find a decent tall one, the tall one's are never as pretty, so midi dresses are my absolute favourite as they always seem to fit fine. This cream and navy stripe maxi is a light fabric with with a seam down either side and also straight down the front of the dress, it comes with a thin tan coloured belt to pull in and accentuate the waist, and is also available in grey and navy . This is perfect to travel in, as it light and floaty, but will also look great with gold jewellery, wedges/sandals and a tan clutch for a night out. I would advise going down a dress size with this dress, as they are quite generous in size.

Midi Dress - £10 - Primark

And last but not least...

Primark White Broderie Anglais Dress

As you can now probably tell, I love white and cream clothes and accessories; I'm in love with this romantic spring themed trend that is everywhere at the moment, and so I have a fair few items like this in my wardrobe. This dress is also available in navy, but I do love broderie anglais in white. I originally saw this dress a while back, but they didn't have my size, so I hunted it down and eventually found one left in my size at my local store last time I visited, so I think you could say it's a popular dress. It does look a lot shorter in the photo than it actually is, but it is a lot shorter than I would like, as it is more of a mini-dress on me, but I'm tall and on holiday I don't mind so much, as I don't know anyone. This dress has a gorgeous open criss-cross back, and my back is my favourite part of my body, so I like dresses which focus on this area.

Dress - £10 - Primark

Are you going on holiday? Have you bought anything yet?
Let me know in the comment box below, I'd love to hear what you've bought,

May Glossybox - It's Their 2nd Birthday!

Hiya Girlies!

So last month, being so so busy, I never got time to blog about my previous Glossybox, which is such a shame as I felt it was the best box that I have recieved by far! If you would still like to see a full review on last months box, please do leave me a comment in the comment box below to let me know.

I started my subscription in January this year, as I had been intrigued by the beauty box for a while, and finally decided that after spending on everyone else over christmas, it was only fair to treat myself, right? I absolutely love how excited i get, every month, waiting for my Glossybox to arrive, I have it sent to my mum's address, as there is always someone in, and I ring her everyday after my dispatch email arrives untill it comes, she must think i'm crazy!

I think that the boxes are very hit and miss, some months I love, others not so much, which is always going to happen, however my only complaint is that the box is far too varied, with too many differences between boxes, and this seems to vary more and more every month.

This month is Glossybox's 2nd birthday and I was quite happy with my box, untill I saw what other's had recieved, with such a good array of brands being received, including Caudalie, La Roche Posay and Rodger & Gallet, so when I saw others recieveing these products and I didn't have those, I became a little disinterested in my own box.

Nevertheless, I do still love my Glossybox, and here's what I received this month...

Loved the bright theme for this months box, with plenty of bright summer pinks, oranges and blues

This was my take on being creative for my instagram picture, let me know what you think :)

Awaphi Wild Ginger Shine Spray

This shine spray by Paul Mitchell is created uing awaphui from a farm in Hawaii, the range of products contain Keratriplex designed to seal and repair hair that is damaged, which is easily done with factors such as weather, heat and styling. This shine spray is fine, light and aims to add moisture and shine to the hair for a healthy-looking finish. The product can also be used when using heat to style the hair, as it is designed to protect your locks. The fragrance is not one that I would usually go for in a haircareproduct, but I think that the wild ginger fragrance does give it a more luxurious feel.

The product is a full size product worth £18.95 which I feel is very generous of Glossybox to include, and is not a product I've heard of before, so I can't wait to try it out!

Check out the science, heritage of these products and the rest of the range at:

Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner

I was a little bit dissapointed with this product, as this isn't a new product on gthe market and I have tried this before. The product is a waterproof black eyeliner with a fine nib, for precision and definition, it has a long handle, which allows for easier application and is great for popping in your handbag on a night out.

I have tried this product before and found that it didn't agree with my skin very well, it left my eyelids red and sore, however I don't think this was down to the product but probably more to do with my sensitive skin, so it may be a good idea to patch test this beforehand if you do have sensitive skin.

This is a full sized product worth £2.99 and can be purchased at:

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Mascara

After receiving the Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush in March's box, I would say I was definitely intrigued by their products, and was ecstatic to see another one of their products in this month's box. This mascara is designed to be waterproof, hard wearing and long lasting, which sounds pretty promising, right?  It also suggests that it doesn't clump, but adds length and increases volume, let me at it! This product also has such pretty packaging, and has a fibre applicator, which I love, so I cannot wait to get try this out! Fingers crossed it's as good as it looks and sounds!

The product is full sized worth £15, check their collections out at:

Headline Colours Poolside Party Nail Polish in 083

This nail polish is part of a new limited edition collection, with ultra-high pigmentation, gloss and UV absorbers, which ensure great colour and staying power for a fabulous look to show off by the pool. The polishes are also free from toxins, which is great to look for in products.

Although this looks a great product, I will probably pass this on to my sister, which I'm sure she'll love, because being a nail technician, I prefer to use my gel polish over regular nail polish, as I like to ensure my manicure is chic free.

This product is another full sized worth £9 and you can check these out at:

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics (Formerly known as BM Beauty) Prime & Create Mixing Medium

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics is co-founded by Kimberly Wyatt and Laura Comiskie, who developed these products to be cruelty-free, free from parabens and to contain natural ingredients such as zinc oxide, which is a natural anti-inflammatory; to name just a few great things about this range.

This product is multi-purpose, aloe-vera based clear gel, designed to be used any way you want! This can be mixed powders to create creams or used alone as a primer for a flawless base.

If like me, your scared to try out all the gorgeous new cream blushes available for summer, why not try mixing your usual powder blusher with a small amount of this mixing medium to create your own, and see if your able to work with it before commiting to the real thing?

This is a trial size product of 2.5g and the full size is 20g for £20, check out their products at:

And last but not least, the Glossybox nail files....

What did you get in your box this month?

Spa Find Renewed Radiance Energizing Day Cream

Hiya Girlies!

Oh my gosh, I have missed my blog so freaking much!
However I can say that my studies are now finished, for good, and I am well and truly back!
I have such a long list of blog posts, as long as my arm, to catch up on, that I really did not know where to start, but what better way to start back than with a product review on the Spa Find Renewed Radiance Energizing Day Cream!

A little bit about how I got to try this....

I have currently been studying Fda Spa Therapies, and of course with the studies, comes the product training, and what better company to have it with, than with Spa Find!

Spa Find are a brand established since 1981, who use a skin-friendly formula containing plant extracts of horsetail marshmallow and rosemary, with Harmonised water, pure dead sea minerals, Vitamin E, B5, VMS Complex, Chamomile and promise to be free from parabens, allergen-free fragrance, animal products, GMOs and are against animal testing. Sounds promising already doesn't it?

During product training, we were given a bag containing a few samples, which of course we fascinated by.  I got so excited about the products that I had to instagram a picture of my samples immediately and decided to tag @spafind in them too, though I never expected them to like my picture and comment on it too.

After trying my sample of the Renewed Radiance Energizing Day Cream, I again had to instagram a picture to say how much I liked the product, and as a result, to my complete surprise, I was very kindly sent a full sized product, canvas bag, product booklet and offer leaflet in the post! I could not have been more Excited!
The company never asked me to review the product, and sent it out of pure generosity, however I loved the product so much that I just had to write a review to let you guys know all about it.

Although I would never take this long to review a product usually, with studies in the way, I had no choice, but on the positive side, I have now had the opportunity to review this product for a whole three weeks, and have a clearer opinion about the products and the results you can receive.

The Spa Find Renewed Radiance Energizing Day Cream is recommended for dry, mature and sensitive skin,  and contains SPF 15. I think SPF is such an important factor to have in skincare products, as I think it's easy to forget about using protection for the face, however we need to protect out faces from those harmful sun rays too. Although my skin is not mature, it is dry and it is sensitive, so I did not have any queries about trying the product, in fact I think it suits my skin perfectly, and I don't think you can ever try early enough to keep the wrinkles at bay.

After using this product for three whole weeks with my usual skin care routine, I have noticed that my smile lines, which are a major insecurity for me, have visibly reduced, my skin is noticeably smoother and my foundation is no longer attaching to the dry areas of my skin, as my skin is much more hydrated.

These results have come from using the product alone, and not with the recommended cleanser, toner and night cream from the same range, so I am amazed at the results that I am already receiving.

The product is a smooth and creamy consistency, and you only need to apply a small amount daily, it smells lovely and fresh like sand, a strange description, I know, but I think this derives from the dead sea minerals within the product, and once you smell it, you'll know what exactly what I mean.

Overall I would definitely recommend the product, especially alongside the recommended products for best results, and a positively glowing complexion.

Have you tried Spa Finds products yet?
