Hiya girlies!

You may have noticed for the past few weeks, that my blog posts have gone from every few days to once a week, this is because I am currently coming towards the end of my degree at university, and therefore I have a ton of assignments to write.

As hard as it is for me to stay away from my blog, especially when I am only just gteting started, I have decided to take a break.

This does not mean that I am abandoning my blog, i love it far too much, but for the next two weeks, which isn't too long, I will not be writing any reviews or posts, however I have a ton of new reviews lined up, from subscription boxes to lip products, and I cannot wait to write them!

Thankyou in advance for your understanding, And I will see you all soon.

& Other Stories Haul

Hiya girlies!

So as soon as I heard about H&M's latest label : & Other Stories, which is categorised into four 'stories' and encourages it's buyers to shop to suit their own individual style, I knew that I would be heading straight for their shop when I reached London.

I had a browse through their gorgeous collection of clothes and bags, but I was eager, a little too eager, I might add, to check out their beauty collection.

With a wide range of beauty treasures, from radiance cream to gentle cleansing wipes and their simple yet quirky packaging, I instantly fell in love with the products without even trying them.

There was so much to choose from that I had no idea where to start, but I had forgotten to take my blusher to London, and a full face of makeup without blusher, is like Marilyn Monroe without curves, it simply wouldn't look right!

So that's where I began...

Applebloom Pink Blusher

I was in awe of these blushers, with so many shades to choose from, twelve to be exact, and the cute quote, it was so hard to choose. In the end I settled on the shade "Applebloom Pink" as its a soft rose colour, which can easily be dressed up or down, a safe bet, and would suit most, if not all, skin tones.

This blusher is highly pigmented, and even the softest touch of the brush, still needs to be tapped before being applied, especially when trying to achieve a subtle look. The colour looks gorgeous dressed down with a nude eye and lips, and a coat or two of mascara, but looks equally as fabulous with a bright lip, bold eye and false lashes for a night out. I will definitely repurchase this product when I run out.

Double Duty Eye Make-Up Remover

If there's one thing I hate about make-up, it's removing it at the end of the day! So anything that will make this task even a little easier, i'll try it. This bottle intrigued me with its twist top, which took a hell of a lot of working out, the colour and the seperating liquids, easily amused I know, and I couldn't help but think that it would look amazing on my dresser!

The product works really well at removing eye make-up, I apply some to two seperate cotton wool pads, one for each eye, press againt the eyes for a few seconds and then wipe away, repeating when neccessary. The only problem I have with this product is that it's very greasy, but if you leave it to dry for a few seconds before applying your cleanser/moisturiser, it does leave your skin feeling smooth. Just don't apply if your in a rush.

Cotton Sticks

Ok, so who doesn't need cotton sticks? Boring I know, but I bought these simply because I thought they would look good on my dresser, I always need cotton sticks, and they were only £1.00, why not?

Have you checked out & Other Stories yet?

My First Birchbox - March

Hiya Girlies!

If you read my blog regularly, especially my beautiful followers, you will know that I already have a subscription to Glossybox. For those of you who don't know what Glossybox is, it is a monthly subscription box in which you pay £10 plus £2.95 postage and packaging and you will recieve a box containing 4-5 samples of beauty products (see my last box here). Glossybox also give you the opportunity to fill out surveys on there products every month which in return earn you glossy dots, when you have enough glossydots, you can use those to purchase a box, which is what I did this month.

Because I did not have to pay for this month's box I decided to try out Birchbox for a month, as I have heard so many good reviews, this is the same concept and price as Glossybox, but contains different branded products. Where Glossybox branded products are usually well known, Birchbox products tend to be less well known and more luxurious, but that's just my opinion, and being a beauty addict, of course I was a little too intrigued. I ordered my box at the end of March with the intent of getting April's box, but because they had some boxes left for March, I received one of March's boxes.

Here's what I recieved...

I must admit when I first opened the box, my first impression was complete dissapointment, I had barely heard of any of the products, yes, that's part of the reason i was intrigued, but the packaging of the products didn't even particularly excite me either. I also recieved some Lindt chocolates, but my boyfriend devoured them, of course, before I even got a chance to tell him they were there. I also received The Sanctuary Spa Active Reverse Thermal Transformation Mask, but I love this mask so much and was so excited to receive another, I had one in my first Glossybox, (see the review here) and therefore I used it straight away. This means that I received seven products instead of the usual 4-5, but I still wasn't overly impressed.

La Sultane De Saba Body Lotion with Argan Oil

I absolutely love this product, the smell reminds me of talcum powder and it leaves your skin feeling super soft and luxurious, for best results, take a nice warm bath, apply a body scrub, soak, and then apply this lotion before bed for super smooth skin.

Molton Brown Valbonne Fragrance

I was intrigued to try this frangrance, as I love how a scent can bring about so many memories. However this frangrance wasn't for me. I would say it's more for the older lady and as it is a very strong scent, I had to wash it off quite quickly. That's not to say that it's a bad scent, I just prefer more fruity and floral day time scents whereas this is a much deeper scent more sutied for the evening, and just not my cup of tea.

Laura Geller Inkwell Waterproof Gel Liner

I have really mixed opinions on this product, because at first I was so excited, as I thought that I was receiving a new black eyeliner, and I have so many eyeliners, so why need another one? right? but how can you go wrong with a black eyeliner, that is waterproof, and has a handy brush to apply, my perfect product. However I received the eyeliner in purple, and I do not wear purple in any shape or form, so I wasn't too impressed. Being the beauty blogger that I am, I had to give it a go anyway, and suprisingly purple does go well with brown eyes, and the brush does make it easy to apply, so I am going to give this product the benefit of the doubt, and I will definitly check out the brand online.

Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream

This is another multi-purpose medicated moisturiser, much like Elizabeths Arden's Eight Hour Cream and who doesn't love these? I think there great to pop in your handbags for any burns, bites or stings that may occur while on the move.

Nick Chavez Beverly Hills Plump N'Thick Leave-In Thickening Mist

Before my box arrived, I took a peek at the surveys to see what I would be receiving, this product was not on my list, but instead the RMK Cleansing Balm was; I ensured to fill out my beauty profile upon signing up, to ensure that I do not receive products that I do not need, and I stated that I have thick hair. So i'm sure you can imagine my dissapoinment when I received a thickening hair mist instead of the cleansing balm.

As I am not able to use the this product, I will pop it in a giveaway soon, so keep your eyes peeled for my very first giveaway to be in with a chance of winning this.

Although the box wasn't as good as I had hoped, I understand that not every box will contain products that everybody likes, however because of the last product, I did decide to email Birchbox to give them my feedback. They were great and replied straight away, apologising for the survey showing the wrong product, and they sent me the RMK Cleansing Balm straight out, which I was so so happy with.

RMK Cleansing Balm

This balm is gorgeous, with an amazing rose scent that will leave you feeling like you've stepped out of a spa; the instructions aren't in English so I wasn't sure how to use it, but if you go to the website, there are of course instructions. The product is in a solid form, but when you apply it to the skin, it smooths out, and becomes a sliky, oily texture, removing makeup perfectly, even mascara. The website instructs to take a grape size amount of balm and place onto a dry palm, massage into the makeup, emulsify with wet hands and rinse off with warm water.

If it wasn't for Birchbox sending me the RMK Cleansing balm, I would have probably cancelled the box altogether, but because I was so impressed with this product, I have decided to carry it on for one more month to see if I like April's product's and I will decide from this box, so fingers crossed it's a good one, I can't wait!

Do you have a monthly subscription box? What did you get in yours?

My First MAC Haul

Hiya Girlies!

First of all, apologies for the lack of blogposts this week, I have been crazy busy, what, with my birthday, London and assignments for uni, end of term, but I promise I will try my best to keep up with my posts, and don't worry, I have plenty lined up, so keep your eyes peeled :).....

Whilst visiting London at the weekend, I decided to seek out some shops that we don't have close by back home, and the first one on my list was of course Mac Cosmetics.

Mac is a brand that has always intrigued me, with so many reviews on blogs and youtube, how could I not be so tempted? So many people seem to have discovered this brand so long ago, but it's only in the past year, after clearly living under a rock, discovering beauty blogs, and creating a blog of my own, that I have become so familiar with this brand too.

Although I have always had a love of all things beauty, I have only recently started to become interested in the brands otherwise known as 'premium beauty,' because I had always found them to be so expensive. Learning more about the industry, purchasing new products and reviewing them, I have come to realise that in some cases, though not all, it really is worth spending that little extra to get the the right product for you.

After reading a lot of reviews, and with a little help from the sales assistant, here are the products that I decided, finally, to purchase as my very first Mac makeup items, with my little owl candle thrown in there too of course...

Mac Amplified Creme Lipstick in Chatterbox

If you hadn't already figured it out, my favourite colour is Pink, see, such a surprise, and chatterbox has to be the perfect shade of pink! I fell in love with the colour the moment i saw it in one of Tanya Burr's makeup video's, check out her blog here and I knew from that moment that this had to be the first colour I purchased. This lipstick applies well, and lasts all day long, yes, even after a full days shopping!

For best results: Gently massage a lip scrub into lips and remove with a warm flannel, apply lip balm liberally and allow to sink in whilst applying the rest of your makeup. Apply one coat of Mac chatterbox lipstick, blot, reapply, and if you prefer some shine, add a similar colour lipgloss to the middle of your bottom lip, to make them appear fuller and your ready to take on the world! Or at least a party!

Mac Eyeshadow in All That Glitters

With the variety of colours and shades within the Mac eyeshadow range, I found it to be quite difficult when trying to choose my first one, as i'm sure you can imagine. I had decided that I wanted an everyday wearable base colour, but again, this didn't exactly narrow it down. Luckily after being rescued by the sales assistant, and a lengthy discussion later, we had decided on All that glitters. This is a highly pigmented, irridescent, light gold eyeshadow, that stays put all day long, and it really does!
I use this eyeshadow as a base colour, with a highlighter under my brow, and a taupe blended into the crease for a more glamorous day time look.

My makeup bag will be full of Mac products in no time, I'm in love already!

What products do you love from Mac?
